2010 HIT-A-THON

Saturday, April 10, 2010

Fireman’s Field and Haske Fields

ULLL includes more than 65 teams, with children ages 5 through 12. With over 800 baseball players, ULLL has substantial operating expenses including maintenance of fields throughout Western Loudoun and the purchase of uniforms, equipment, and thousands of baseballs. Registration fees do pay a good portion of the overall expenses. However, ULLL aims to make greater improvements to fields, coaching, uniforms and the general overall experience for our players. Previous fund raising efforts allowed ULLL to make the initial investment into lights at Haske Field in 2010! In order to continue to operate the lights and make other field improvements throughout Western Loudoun, ULLL needs funding beyond registration fees.

Each player at Coach Pitch level and above is expected to participate in the Hit-A-Thon. With a modest amount of effort, every player can make a significant impact. The Hit-A-Thon works much like a walk-a-thon: players ask for pledges based on how far they can hit the ball during the Hit-a-Thon event. Our donors can pledge by the distance batted, or simply with a flat donation to the League.

For those players who put effort into the Hit-a-Thon, the prizes are great!

The ULLL Hit-A-Thon will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at both Fireman’s Field and Haske Fields in Purcellville, VA.

Collection Details

We will be collecting the donations this weekend (on Saturday) and want to make you aware of the times so that you can arrange to have your team's Hit-a-Thon donations tabulated and delivered to us.  We will be at Haske Field on Saturday, April 24th from 8:00AM to 10:00AM and again at Haske from 6:00PM to 7:30PM for each team to drop off their team envelopes.  You must arrange to make one of these times.  Please fill out the enclosed/attached form for your respective team (a team parent can be in charge of this should you not want to).  Make sure that you count and total each individual player donation and then total as a team the amount. We will again count the money when you/your team parent come(s) to drop it off.  This protects all of us by having two accountings of the monies.  Also, please be sure that we have contact information for any players who have raised $100 dollars or more so that the t-shirts and/or tickets can be delivered once they come in.

Thank You!

Thank you again for your support of this fund-raiser.  As will be noted in the letter to all our Upper Loudoun Little League parents, ULLL has not had a fund raiser for the past 8 years of any kind.  We have tried to keep our registration fees down to make it as affordable as possible for families to have their children learn and play this great game of baseball.  That said, we have a major field improvement currently going on at Haske Field and then have a number of others in the planning stages.  In the past few years ULLL has spent a great deal of money in Lovettsville, Mountain View, Round Hill, Purcellville and Hamilton on field improvements and maintenance.  The county does not help with any of our costs, including maintenance of our fields.  This fund raiser, our 2010 ULLL Hit-a-Thon, will determine the degree of registration cost increases in the future.  Please support it!

Thank you for your support of our fund raising and fun raising project for Upper Loudoun Little League!
